I really like this coffee maker not only for the great quality of coffee, but also because it's a great design object. It looks great in my kitchen and the option that let me choose the strength of the brew give me the best coffee I can get.
Not as long as glass vacuum carafes, but also no shattered glass either.I give this coffeemaker two thumbs up and my favorite of all time. The Starbucks machine was recalled and this DeLonghi model was provided as a replacement. Thank God Almighty, free from problems at last. We have had a raft of problems with the last three coffeemakers we have owned. Now on year three and not one single problem. It easily programs, turns on at the right time and keeps the coffee hot for a reasonable time. The stainless steel carafe keeps it hot enough for us for about 180 minutes.
There are many pros. Finally, it pours really quickly and cleanly. The major issue is on a fairly regular basis, the lid (with five small holes where coffee backs up) gets clogged and you will come out to find coffee everywhere. The water reservoir is removable so it makes filling it easy.
Because this unit does have things I really like (thermal unit and removable water reservoir) I have yet to find a better replacement. I would like to change it on weekends to brew later but I dare not attempt to move the timer much. You almost need the booklet every time to remember what buttons to push to change the time. We were talked into changing to a thermal carafe and that was a great decision. However, this coffee maker was not. Sometimes, when I pour it out at night to make it for the next day, it is still warm. The few cons are big ones.
I am tired of cleaning up coffee all the time and banging the lid repeatedly to try to get it cleaned so I am hunting for another thermal unit. We bought this coffee maker from Starbucks a year or so ago. One, it makes good coffee and it keeps it hot for hours. Secondly, the clock is rather hard to set for both regular time and timer.
I even paid $5 plus $10 in shipping to purchase a new seal from the manufacturer. Don't waste your money. It makes good coffee but the leaking in unforgivable. I still have to pour my coffee over the sink.
After looking in all the right stores we found that no one was carrying this version (Strike 1). This morning we gave up and decided to buy a different brand. Received the coffe pot and immediately cleaned and set it up. When it failed we tried to get it repaired. I took changed out parts with the old coffee maker in an effort to figure out what had changed with no luck.
Loved it. We decided to buy a replacement. Went to the internet and read the mixed reviews and bought it anyway (Strike 2). We have contiued to try different things and have settled into cleaning up the mess every other pot of coffee. DeLonghi Esclusivo DCM485 10-Cup Thermal Carafe and Coffeemaker, Brushed Stainless Steel We purchased our first DeLonghi DCM485 a couple years ago.
We found the same as others no parts for versions made in the Peoples Republic of China. First pot we had coffee and grounds all over the counter the same as the reviews (strike 3).
